Our Story

Dave & Laura, we are your Hosts at

River Ridge Farm Flowers

After raising four children, seeing them through school and both of us having very busy, stressful careers, it was time to put our cherished Retirement plan into motion. It had always been a post career dream to buy a Farm Acreage where we could put down roots and be Stewards of the land. We grew up in a time and learned during our own childhood how important it is to recognize that we have a responsibility to retain the quality and abundance of our land, water, air and biodiversity and to manage these Natural features in a responsible way so we are able to conserve all of their unique values for generations to come. We are seeing today how critical these initiatives can be to our Global well being.

After many years of driving through the Country sides of Southern Ontario we decided Uxbridge, Ontario offered the Geological/Hydrological features that best suited our Farmland requirements while still keeping us reasonably close to our extended family.

On a Wintry day in December of 2018 we found 12500 Concession 6 at the North end of Uxbridge situated between Leaskdale & Zephyr, a 100 Acre Farm property with an abandoned farm house, tractor shed and old foundations from a Barn and house that had burnt down. The scenario was challenging as there was no house to live in and we would have to build BUT the land was absolutely perfect, exactly what we were looking for.

The elevation at the East end of the property along Concession 6 is just under 1000ft and looks West to the Ridge on Concession 5. You can see over the treetops in the Valley with an expansive 25km Panoramic view. It's like a view of "Tuscany" on a clear day with the Rolling Hills, Farms & Fields as the backdrop.

The beautiful Pefferlaw Creek/River runs all the way through the West end of the property where there are thick Cedar groves, an abundance of wildlife and crop fields.

We walked the property many times before finally closing the deal in May 2019.  At this point we had already created the house design and were very respectful of the house placement and chose a position on the property that was already cleared so no trees had to be taken down and no natural habitats would have been disturbed.

Unfortunately the old Farmhouse on the property was not savable and too far gone to fix or renovate so we were forced to build new.

We moved in March 2020 and that's when we shifted our focus to create the Flower Gardens, Flower Cutting Experience, Barn Relocation and Photo Shoot Opportunities.

We know that life can be very expensive so we have decided to give back to the community by donating flowers to organizations in the area. We also have low prices for cut your own flowers, the flower stand, ordering flowers for a special occasion & even when ordering custom bouquet(s) and our flower subscriptions (CSA).
